The President of the Republic to make a state visit to Iceland

President Arnold Rüütel on Monday, May 3, together with Mrs Ingrid Rüütel and accompanied by an official and a business delegation will embark on a state visit to Iceland.

The Estonian Head of State will meet with the President of Iceland, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, at Bessastadir. President Rüütel on the occasion of his state visit decided to confer on President Grimsson the Collar of the Order of the White Star.

During the state visit, President Rüütel will meet also the Prime Minister of Iceland, David Oddson, the President of the Parliament of Iceland, Halldor Blöndal, the Mayor of Reykjavik, Thorolfur Arnason, and the Mayor of Hveragerd, Orri Hlödversson.

The President of the Republic will attend a seminar titled "Banking in the Age of Globalization", visit the Arni Magnusson Manuscript Institute, the Heidabaer Sheep Farm, the Thingvellir National Park and the Town of Hveragerd, and listen to a concert of the Estonian Folk Music Ensemble Wirbel.

The official delegation accompanying the President of the Republic includes Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Meelis Atonen, Minister of the Environment Villu Reiljan, Minister of Culture Urmas Paet, State Secretary Heiki Loot, Vice Governor of Eesti Pank Andres Sutt, County Governor of Hiiumaa Hannes Maasel, and others. The President of the Republic will be accompanied also by a six-member business delegationheaded by President of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Toomas Luman.
