The President of the Republic appointed judgesPresident Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg signed a resolution to appoint Meeli Kaur, Oliver Kask and Ivo Pilving to be judges.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Uno Lõhmus, presented the nominees for the judge's office to the President of the Republic. The judges were sworn in before the Head of State.

Meeli Kaur will take office at the Tallinn City Court, Oliver Kask and Ivo Pilving at the Tallinn Circuit Court.

President Arnold Rüütel in addition signed a resolution to release Küllike Jürimäe as of 7 May 2004 from her office as Judge of the Tallinn Circuit Court at her own request, due to her confirmation by the Government of the Republic as Estonia's candidate for assignment as Judge of the European Court of First Instance. The President of the Republic also released as of 1 June 2004 Tiiu Jervan from her office as Judge of the Tallinn Administrative Court at her own request, due to attaining the pensionable age.
