The President of the Republic congratulated the President of the Russian Federation
16.03.2004

President Rüütel today sent congratulations to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on his re-election as President. The President of the Republic noted that in Russia during previous years the necessary basis for carrying out reforms had been created, which, in turn, helped to continue promoting the prosperity and security of the Russian people, and to ensure the economic growth of the country.

The President of the Republic expressed hope that the partnership between Estonia and Russia would develop in the spirit of mutual understanding and good-neighbourly relations, and our bilateral contacts would expand still more in the years to come. "Estonia's imminent accession to the European Union and NATO in several fields will open up additional possibilities for that. Estonia, on its part, is willing to contribute to the deepening of partnership between the European Union and Russia, and NATO and Russia in every way, for only all together can we meet the global challenges facing the world," President Rüütel's message of congratulation read.
