The President of the Republic conferred state decorations05.02.2004
President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg signed a resolution to confer on the occasion of the 86th Anniversary of the Republic of Estonia and in recognition of services to Estonia and its people state decorations on 447 Estonian and foreign nationals.
By that, Estonia thanks outstanding scientists and educationalists, cultural figures and businessmen, freedom fighters, state and local government officials, promoters of civil society and cultural mediators, as well as our friends and supporters in the world. Among the decoration recipients, there are many of those who by their activities have facilitated Estonia's integration into Europe and the world. The honorees also include individuals who have cultivated and promoted the Estonian traditional culture, owing to which the cultural area of Kihnu and the tradition of Estonian song and dance festivals have been enlisted in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
