The President of the Republic visited AS Ilves-Extra31.01.2004
President Rüütel today in Tartu visited the limited company AS Ilves-Extra. The President of the Republic was welcomed by the company's Manager Arvo Kivikas and Chairwoman of Board Helle Raidvee.
President Rüütel familiarized himself with the enterprise and took interest in various technologies used in production. Arvo Kivikas and Helle Raidvee gave him an overview of the activities and future plans of Ilves-Extra.
The President of the Republic acknowledged the hitherto success of the company in enhancing its competitiveness. According to President Rüütel, it was positive that Ilves-Extra paid so much attention to improving the quality of their products as well as innovation, and recommended to consider possibilities of exporting to EU candidate countries. The President of the Republic appreciated also the attention paid by the management of the enterprise to solving social problems of workers.
Arvo Kivikas explained that the most troubling issue of the enterprise was lack of qualified workforce.
AS Ilves-Extra is a textile factory with 450 workers founded in 1992 that is specialized in manufacturing sports- and leisurewear. AS Ilves-Extra is a partner of the Estonian Olympic Committee and has supplied the Estonian, Finnish and Latvian teams at the winter Olympics in Salt Lake City with parade uniforms.
