According to President Rüütel, both countries were lying at the crossroads of different types of culture and religions, and that circumstance created good preconditions for mutual understanding and stable relations.

The geographical distance between our countries, according to the Estonian Head of State, nowadays was no big obstacle any more. "Estonia has a good experience concerning the cooperation among the Baltic Sea countries, which may be helpful in several cooperation areas of the Barcelona process. At the same time, the process of cooperation among Mediterranean countries is certainly a source of new useful experience for us. Estonia attaches great importance to strengthening dialogue between the European Union and Arab countries," President Rüütel said.

The President of the Republic noted that bilateral trade, economic and cultural relations between Estonia and Egypt definitely needed to be developed further, and wished the Ambassador a great success in her mission promoting friendly relations between our two countries.
