The President of the Republic met with the Prime Minister

President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg during his customary working lunch with Prime Minister Juhan Parts discussed with him current issues.

Prime Minister Parts informed the President of the progress made with the State Budget Bill in the Parliament and assured that the Government wanted the bill to be passed on 17 December.

At their meeting, also the strike of educational and cultural workers as well as the Prime Minister's meeting with representatives of trade unions were under discussion. On top of that, the Prime Minister gave an overview of his meetings in Rome, Berlin and Vilnius, and his tomorrow's meeting in Paris, which will address the state of affairs at the Intergovernmental Conference and the preparations for the European Council. They also touched upon the position of the coalition on the elections to the European Parliament.
