The President of the Republic visited the BLRT Grupp

Left: the President Arnold Rüütel and Fjodor Berman, Chairman of the BoardPresident Arnold today in Tallinn visited the BLRT Grupp (Baltic Ship Repairers). The President of the Republic was welcomed by Fjodor Berman, Chairman of the Board, and Dmitri Kubyshkin, Administrative Director, and thereafter visited the premises of the enterprise at the tip of Kopli Peninsula and the Tallinn Shipyard at the Tööstuse Street.

The President of the Republic familiarized himself with the enterprise’s metalworking department, repair docks, department for manufacturing of press moulds and museum. Chairman of the Board Fjodor Berman gave an overview of the present operations of the BLRT Grupp and the future plans of the enterprise. They also addressed shipping policies in the context of our accession to the European Union, and issues connected with vocational education and training of engineers.

President Rüütel recognized the continuous success of the company in raising its competitiveness. “The long-term activities of the BLRT Grupp and its leaders have been productive, and the company has been capable of keeping pace with conditions of the rapidly changing economic environment,” the President of the Republic said. He also spoke highly of the enterprise’s systematic activities in training skilled workers for their needs and supporting training of engineers.

The BLRT Grupp is a group operating in different fields, specialized, first of all, in repairing all kinds of ships. The group has shipyards in both Tallinn and Klaipeda, and incorporates altogether 50 subsidiaries in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Kaliningrad Region.

In this year, the BLRT Grupp won The Enterprise Award 2003 of the foundation Enterprise Estonia, which on 29 August was handed over by the President of the Republic, and the title “The Exporter 2003”.
