The Young Scientist Prize of the President's Cultural Foundation goes to Dr Ivo Leito

Toomas Luman and the Director of the Cultural Foundation, Alar OjaloThe Board of the President's Cultural Foundation decided to award the Young Scientist Prize 2003 to Dr. Ivo Leito, Associate Professor at the Institute of Chemical Physics of the University of Tartu. The President of the Republic in the near future will hand over the prize personally.

According to Academician Lippmaa, Dr. Leito's referee, Ivo Leito's research themes were highly topical having relevance to the fields like analytical and organic chemistry and high efficiency energy sources. More recently, he has also been working in the rapidly developing field of chemical metrology.

At the today's meeting, as desired by Toomas Luman, the founder and backer of the Young Scientist Prize, an additional protocol on increasing the prize by 10,000 kroons was signed, thus the prize amounts to 50,000 kroons.

Toomas Luman and the Director of the Cultural Foundation, Alar Ojalo, at the today's board meeting also signed an additional protocol on increasing the Young Artist Prize by 10,000 kroons.

This year, canditatures of 19 young scientists had been submitted for the Young Scientist Prize.
