The President of the Republic embarked on a state visit to Romania

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel today accompanied by an official and a business delegation embarked on state visit to Romania.

Tomorrow, the Estonian Head of State will meet with the President of Romania, Ion Iliescu, lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, and visit the Agricultural University of Bucharest and a rural museum. Furthermore, three interstate agreements will be signed.

In the afternoon, President Rüütel will meet the Chairman of the Senate of Romania, Nicolae Vćcćroiu, and the Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Romania.

In the evening of October 23, Romanian President Ion Iliescu at Controcen Palace will host a state dinner in honour of the Estonian President and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel.

On Friday, President Rüütel will attend a Romanian-Estonian economic forum at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest, meet with Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastas and visit the City of Sinaia.

To the official delegation accompanying the President belong Minister of Agriculture Tiit Tammsaar, State Secretary Heiki Loot, Governor of Eesti Pank Vahur Kraft, County Governor of Läänemaa Jaanus Sahk and others. Toomas Luman, President of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, heads the business delegation.

The President of the Republic and the accompanying delegations will return to Tallinn on Friday night.
