The President of the Republic participated in the opening of the UN General Assembly 58th Session23.09.2003
President Rüütel today participated in the opening of the 58th Session of the UN General Assembly.
The President of the Republic also attended receptions given by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, German Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and President of the United States George W. Bush.
President Rüütel on three different occasions met briefly with President of the United States George W. Bush and exchanged with him views about topical issues to be addressed by the General Assembly. The President of the Republic thanked the United States of America and personally President Bush for the support and assistance given to Estonia and expressed support to forming a united front against terrorism. President Bush on his part expressed support to Estonia's aspirations.
Tomorrow morning, President Rüütel will give a speech at the 58th Session of the UN General Assembly.
