President Rüütel today handed to Anna Haava Basic School of Pala the Most Beautiful School of Estonia Award for the school year 2002/2003.
President Rüütel handing over the award expressed appreciation for the great work done by pupils and teachers of the school: "Personality of an individual is formed in his youth, and home and school help to shape it. Your school, too, shapes the views of future generation," the President of the Republic said.
According to President Rüütel, words like "fringe areas" should not be used. People needed to have a possibility to fulfil themselves in both town and country, and this was also demonstrated by the fact that the Basic School of Pala had been selected as the most beautiful school of Estonia.
The President of the Republic gave as a present to the Basic School of Pala Gobelin tapestry "Pidulised" by Kristi Kütt.
The most beautiful school of Estonia was selected in the framework of the project "Green Schoolyard Attractive Learning Environment II". Nearly 70 educational establishments from various regions of Estonia took part in the project and were evaluated by a nationwide jury.
