PRELIMINARY NOTICE: The President of the Republic next week to visit Viljandimaa29.08.2003
President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel September 2-4 will be on a tour of Viljandimaa. On September 4, also the President of Latvia,Vaira Vike-Freiberga, will come to Viljandi.
The three-day visit will start on September 2 at Võhma where president Rüütel is due to meet with the Acting County Governor of Viljandimaa, Kalle Küttis, and the Mayor of Võhma, Ants Pärn, and to call at the AS Caritas producing drinking water and soft drinks. Furthermore, the President in the forenoon will visit Olustvere School of Services and Rural Economy.
In the afternoon, the President and Mrs Rüütel are going to meet the people of Suure-Jaani and Kuhjavere. In the evening, the President will meet with Viljandi's Mayor Malle Vahtra and Councils Chairman Arnold Kimber, and open the new gym of the Basic School of Paistu.
Next morning, President Rüütel will meet the First Minister for Wales, Mr Rhodri Morgan, and visit enterprises in Viljandimaa. Mrs Ingrid Rüütel will visit Midrimaa Nursery School at Viljandi and the Basic School of Raudna.
At 12:15 pm, the President and Mrs Rüütel at the Basic School of Kõpu will meet with its pupils and residents of this rural municipality. In the afternoon, the President of the Republic will meet leaders of local governments and farmers of Viljandimaa. Mrs Rüütel will meet with representatives of the Women's Society of Uue-Kariste and the Institute of Mulgi Culture.
On September 3, in the evening, the President of the Republic will travel to the Republic of Latvia where he is scheduled to meet Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga in the forenoon of September 4. The two Heads of State on September 4 at Rezekne will hold a joint press conference and give talks at the University of Rezekne.
On September 4, in the afternoon, the Heads of State will arrive in Viljandi where they at 15:00 pm at the Theatre Ugala will meet with local people to talk about Estonias and Latvia's possible accession to the European Union and to hold a press conference.
