The President of the Republic to visit Estonian small islands

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel tomorrow will embark on a tour of Estonian small islands. During their four-day tour, they are scheduled to visit the islands of Manilaid, Kihnu, Ruhnu, Vilsandi and Abruka.

Tomorrow, July 9, President Rüütel will visit Manilaid meeting with islanders and calling at their farms.

In the afternoon, the President of the Republic will leave for Kihnu. There he will discuss with relevant specialists and islanders implications of the Small Islands Act and prospective organisation of rural life and production within the European Union. In the afternoon, the President and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel will pay a call on the oldest inhabitant of Kihnu, 101-year old Maria Köster.

On Thursday, the tour is to be continued on the islands of Kihnu and Ruhnu. On Friday, President Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel will attend the 6th World Gathering of the Natives of Vilsandi and, on Saturday, visit the island of Abruka.
