The President of the Republic received the best secondary and vocational school leavers

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel today at the Kadriorg Baroque Palace received one and a half hundred of this year's best secondary and vocational school leavers of Estonia.

The President reminded the young entering life of writer Tammsaare's words of wisdom about chances to find love: "As you will remember, one has to work hard for that purpose. I can assure you, based on my own experience, that it doesn't matter if it is love for another human being, for one's profession or native land, the efforts to find and to keep it will be rewarded in full measure. Therefore, go and gather in the world as many valuables as you can carry and use, and offer chances of having a share also to your loved ones and people."

The Minister of Education and Research, Toivo Maimets, called upon the school leavers to gather wisdom in the world but to return to Estonia for Estonia needed them. Krista Maajärv from the Upper Secondary School of Saaremaa speaking on behalf of the school leavers took up the same thought: "Let us look around in the world and search for our open sources. And those who would like to return here will return in any case."
