The President of the Republic to meet with the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain20.05.2003
On Thursday, May 22, the Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, Lord Irvine of Lairg, on President Rüütels invitation will arrive in Estonia.
The President of the Republic and Lord Irvine will meet on Thursday to discuss the state of economic relations between Estonia and Great Britain, and Estonia's possibilities to help Great Britain enliven relations with new neighbours of the European Union.
President Rüütel met the Lord Chancellor during his working visit to Great Britain in 2002. Lord Irvine already then took great interest in Estonia's domestic and foreign policy, education system, ethnic relations, development of democracy, and other topics of the Estonian life.
Lord Chancellor Irvine will stay in Estonia until Friday afternoon meeting also with Estonian Prime Minister, Minister of Justice, Legal Chancellor, and Chairwoman of the Riigikogu.
The Lord Chancellor is the head of Great Britains judicial system, a Member of the Government and the Speaker of the House of Lords.
