The President of the Repblic met with the Prime Minister

President Arnold Rüütel today during a traditional working lunch at Kadriorg discussed with the Prime Minister current international and domestic affairs.

Juhan Parts informed the Head of State of the Government’s priorities while drafting the intended supplementary budget, which had been put forward at a cabinet meeting yesterday. According to the Prime Minister, the Government drafting the budget would attach importance to education and take into account the requirement of balanced budget.

The Prime Minister suggested that the President of the Republic, the Chairman of the Riigikogu and the Prime Minister met prior to the referendum on the accession to the European Union on a monthly basis and supported by their authority the relevant information campaign. The Head of State as well deemed it necessary.

The President briefed the Prime Minister on his forthcoming state visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
