The President of the Republic to visit the County of Tartu

President Arnold Rüütel tonight will leave for Tartu where he is going to attend a reception on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Tartu Academy of Theology.

Tuesday morning, President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel will start a two-day tour of the County of Tartu.

First, they are going to call at the farm of Andres Tamme in the rural municipality of Nõo. Thereafter, the President will open a seminar on the European Union at Emajõe Trade Centre. Before noon, the President will arrive at Elva to meet with farmers of the county. In the afternoon, the President and Mrs Rüütel will visit a day nursery at Elva, thereafter, the Head of State is going to familiarize himself with peat industries at Sangla and call at the Limited Company Vinnal in the rural municipality of Vara. In the evening, the Presidential Couple will attend a concert at the Palace of Alatskivi.

On the second day of the tour, the President will visit a mill of the Limited Company Stahlhut and a furniture factory of the Limited Company Arens-Mööbel. The President is also scheduled to meet with local government leaders at the community centre of Tartu, to call at the "Biomeedikum" of Tartu University and the Port of Tartu. The President will spend the second half of the day in the municipality of Kambja visiting the school and the church of Kambja.

The President will return to Tallinn in the evening of Wednesday.
