The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Vietnam19.12.2002
 President Arnold Rüütel today at noon at Kadriorg met the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Estonia, Nguyen Van Nganh, in order to receive his credentials.
The Estonian Head of State emphasized that, although ten years had passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, the relations between Estonia and Vietnam - for the purpose of deepening the knowledge of each other - definitely needed to be enlivened. At the meeting, trade and culture were suggested to be the primary areas of strengthening our contacts. The Ambassador said in addition that Estonia's successful reforms and progress in information technology, too, had attracted considerable interest in Vietnam.
The Ambassador gave to the Estonian Head of State an invitation from the President of Vietnam.
