The President of the Republic met with Ambassadors of EU Member States
04.12.2002

President Arnold Rüütel today at the Embassy of Denmark in Tallinn met Ambassadors of the European Union's Member States focussing in his discussions with them on Estonia's future developments and the European Union's enlargement issues.

President Rüütel gave the Ambassadors an overview of trends in Estonia's domestic and foreign policy and of his recent meeting with Romano Prodi and Günter Verheugen. The President also broached the subjects not settled yet in the course of talks, mostly related to the agricultural quotas and direct payments.

The President stressed that the decisions on the future of the European Union should be made after the today's candidates be entitled to vote in the decision-making process. Whereas the future of the European Union is being discussed all together in the Convention, the final decision should be taken jointly as well.
