The President of the Republic met with the Head of State of Austria19.11.2002
President Arnold Rüütel this evening in Vienna met with the Austrian President, Thomas Klestil. The Heads of State discussed the forthcoming enlargement of the European Union and NATO.
Talking about the future of the European Union's and NATO's new member states, both Presidents put great emphasis on such keywords like speed of development, efficiency and multitude of opportunities. In addition, they touched upon the future relations of the European Union and NATO as well as of their new members with Russia and Ukraine.
The meeting between the Presidents of Estonia and Austria was very cordial. According to President Klestil he had very pleasant memories of his summer visit to Estonia.
Later this evening, President Rüütel attended the opening of a joint exhibition of Estonian, Latvian and Austrian artists at Museumsquartier.
