The President of the Republic will speak at Oxford

President Arnold Rüütel is in Great Britain where he today and tomorrow has several meetings, and where he this evening will give a lecture at St John's College of Oxford University.

This morning in the House of Lords, President Rüütel had a talk with Lord Janner, who suggested that the wartime mass graves should be marked in Estonia.

The Head of State had a meeting with the Lord High Chancellor, Lord Irvine of LairgThereafter, the Head of State had a meeting with the Lord High Chancellor, Lord Irvine of Lairg, who took great interest in Estonia's domestic and foreign policy, education system and ethnic relations, development of democracy and other details of life in Estonia. According to the Lord Chancellor, he had heard a lot about Estonia's progress and was desirous to come and see it for himself soon.

In the afternoon, the President will be at Oxford, first meeting students interested in Estonia and, subsequently, delivering a lecture entitled "Traditions and Values in Changing Europe" at St John's College.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Estonian Head of State will meet with the Prince of Wales. In the morning, he will visit the Estonian stand at an international tourism fair. At noon at the Estonian House of London, the Head of State will host a reception for members of the British-Estonian Association and local Estonians.
