| Press Releases | | | The President of the Republic met candidates for Auditor General11.11.2002
President Arnold Rüütel this morning at Kadriorg met with Olev Raju and Mihkel Oviir. Considering the results of his consultations with the Parliament's factions, the President proposed both Olev Raju, Member of the Riigikogu's Centre Party faction, and Mihkel Oviir, non-political Deputy Legal Chancellor-Adviser, to run as a candidate for the office of Auditor General. Each of them expressed consent with the proposal.
Since the Auditor General must have access to state secrets, both candidates have been filed for security check in order to obtain the necessary permit. After the check, which may last up to three months, the President of the Republic will make a proposal to the Riigikogu to appoint the candidate for Auditor General to office.
