The President of the Republic attends a business forum08.11.2002
President Arnold Rüütel today is at Võru where he, before noon, opened a business forum. In this event dealing with business as a lifestyle representatives of Estonian small and medium-sized enterprises are participating.
As noted by the Head of State in his opening address to the forum, in programmes designed to create favourable conditions for the development of business, the man should be given a more important place than so far, because: "
we must admit that, compared with Europe, there are relatively few businessmen in today's Estonia".
The President expressed appreciation of work done honestly and with love, just as of businessmen attaching importance to individual development, and organisations promoting constructive dialogue between the state and businessmen.
"For the sake of a better future we have to build a state, in which a word of honour is just as good a guarantee as a document certified by notary's seal, in which employers feel their responsibility for employees, and everyone feels his responsibility for our environment of life," the Head of State said.
President Rüütel is the patron of the Year of Business launched by the today's forum. The focal point of the Year of Business will be the development of small and medium-size business in Estonia's regions.
This afternoon, the President will visit several small businesses in the County of Võrumaa.
