The President of the Republic opened the first wind farm in Estonia11.10.2002
President Arnold Rüütel starting a wind-driven generator at Virtsu today opened Estonia's first wind farm, which, according to the Head of State, means a significant shift to a more environment- and consumer-friendly Estonia.
The President acknowledged the co-operation between public and private capital in building the wind farm and also thanked the Embassy of Germany for their support. The Head of State expressed hope that Läänemaa's example before long would be followed by other enterprising regions of Estonia.
