The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Germany

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Estonia Jürgen Dröge presented his credentials to President Arnold RüütelToday at Kadriorg, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Estonia, Jürgen Dröge, presented his credentials to President Arnold Rüütel.

The Ambassador said that it gave him great pleasure to take up the leadership of the German Embassy in a country to which his fellow countrymen were tied by centuries-old links, and the accession of which to the European Union he now was able to witness on the spot. The Ambassador assured that Estonia always could count on Germany's assistance.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Estonia Jürgen Dröge and the President Arnold RüütelPresident Rüütel receiving the credentials also highlighted the close relationship between our two countries based on mutual trust and resulting from numerous historical, cultural and political common features, yet from economic interests alike. The Estonian Head of State expressed his optimism about further developments of these contacts saying: "I am confident that in the years ahead new areas are going to be created, in which we can work together in the interests of our peoples and the whole of Europe. I attach great importance to contacts between scientists, but also to student exchange and connections between young people. I believe that our accession to the European Union will interest German investors in Estonia more than so far, and I would be delighted if they shared their interest between different regions of Estonia."
