The President of the Republic to make a tour of Valga County

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel on September 23-24 are going to make a tour of the County of Valga.

In the morning of Monday, 23 September, they will be met by County Governor Rein Randver at the county border and, from there, proceed to the rural municipality of Põdrala to call at the farm of bagpiper Taul. Thereafter, they will jointly visit the Upper Secondary School of Tõrva and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel, in addition, the Basic School of Hummuli. The President at the same time will meet farmer Mati Nurme, who owns the Puide grain farm.

In the afternoon, they will call at the Castle of Sangaste and proceed from there to Otepää where the Presidential Couple will meet residents of the municipality, visit the Ski Museum of Otepää and the Training Centre of Tehvandi. In the evening, the President will plant an oak tree in the park of Pühajärve Manor.

On Tuesday, the President will continue his tour in the rural municipality of Sangaste with a visit at Keeni to Sanwood Ltd. manufacturing solid-wood furniture. Thereafter, the President will familiarize himself with a new slaughterhouse of Valga Lihatööstus and call at the first international border crossing point of Valga. In the afternoon, at the County Government of Valga, the President will meet with local government leaders of the county.

Mrs Ingrid Rüütel on the second day of the tour will familiarize herself with an adult education institution and the activities of local women's association at Lüllemäe, in the rural municipality of Karula, and also visit an arts centre, a museum and a music school at Valga.
