The President of the Republic ended his visit to Hiiumaa

The first day of President Arnold Rüütel`s and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel`s visit they had started yesterday ended with a call and a dinner at the Farm Museum of Soera. Before that, the Head of State had visited the Manor of Suuremõisa and called at the farm of Veskimetsa.

The President of the Republic and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel also paid a surprise-visit to the Mihkli Farm Museum where producer Jaanus Rohumaa together with TV3 is shooting the series “Farm”.

This morning, the Head of State met with representatives of the Farmers` Association of Hiiumaa at the tourist farm of Ly and Arvo Kogermann, which is the only one in Estonia where Scottish highland-cattle are being reared. At the meeting, the European Union`s support programmes and ecotourism were under discussion. Thereafter, the President visited a day nursery at Kärla and acquainted himself with the training project “Vaata Maailma” (Look at the World) in Hiiumaa. The President of the Republic is the patron of this nation-wide training project.

At noon, the Head of State attended a workshop on the European Union at Tuuru House and, in that very place, met the local government leaders of Hiiumaa. He proceeded with his visit to the Kõrgessaare fish processing factory and ended it at the factory of plastic products “M ja P Nurst”.

Mrs Ingrid Rüütel today visited the Käina School of Fine Arts and and met representatives of Kassari`s Educational Society talking with them educational and cultural topics. Also leisure-time activities of the youth were under discussion. Mrs Rüütel in the course of her tour also visited the Museum of Hiiumaa and a wool mill at Vaemla.
