The President of the Republic met European science journalists

President Arnold Rüütel tonight at his Paslepa summer residence received a delegation of the European Union of Science Journalists' Associations (EUSJA). During their meeting with the President, the European science journalists took interest in the development and achievements of education and science in Estonia.

President Rüütel spoke about the Estonian priorities in development of science and underlined the importance of journalists' work in informing the public about scientific achievements. According to the Head of State, while informing the public, particular attention was to be paid to ethical limitations. The President of the Republic also briefed the guests on the tasks and objectives of his academic council.

President Rüütel voiced his hope that the journalists reported in their countries what they had heard and seen in Estonia. The President of EUSJA, Werner Hadorn, talked on the history of science journalism and said that he was willing to give his personal contribution to enlivening of contacts with Estonia.
