The President of the Republic congratulated Estonian athletes11.08.2002
President Arnold Rüütel tonight phoned the head of the Estonian delegation to the European athletics championships, Peeter Tishler, to congratulate the Estonian athletes on their brilliant performance. The Head of State asked to convey his best wishes to Erki Nool having won the silver medal in the decathlon and Pavel Loskutov having grasped the silver medal in the men's marathon. The President said that their achievements deserved particular recognition as they had won the medal-victories in difficult events.
The President asked to pass on his congratulations also to Jane Salumäe and Aleksander Tammert for their good performance in Munich.
Peeter Tishler confirmed that the championships had been quite a success to Estonia and, on behalf of the Estonian delegation, thanked the President for his good wishes.
