The President of the Republic Met with Acting Prime Minister

President Arnold Rüütel met at Paslepa with minister Liina Tõnisson acting as prime minister during the latter's vacation who informed the head of state of the activities of the government.
One of the topics discussed was the ruling of the National Court stating that the Council of the Local Government Election Act contained an anticonstitutional section banning citizens' election alliances from local elections.
Both President Rüütel and minister Tõnisson agreed that under the circumstances it was necessary to convene the extraordinary session of the Riigikogu.
