The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Canada

At noon today, the Ambassador of Canada, Peter McKellar, made his farewell call on President Arnold Rüütel at Kadriorg.

The Estonian Head of State thanked Canada via the Ambassador for its aid to Estonia in matters of social integration. President also recalled his visit to the Tallinn Language Immersion Centre operating with Canadian assistence very productively in the field of teaching Estonian to non-Estonian children. At the meeting, it was found that the programme of language teaching, due to its effieciency, was worth expanding.

Ambassador McKellar acknowledged changes having taken place in Estonia over the last years, and confirmed that Canada was following with interest our processes of integration both with the European Union and NATO.

Peter McKellar acted since September 1999 as Ambassador of Canada to Estonia residing in Riga.
