The President of the Republic received the best high and vocational school leavers
21.06.2002

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel today at the Kadriorg Baroque Palace received one hundred and fifty this year's best leavers of high and vocational schools.

The President wished the young people facing life to strive for human magnitude and height, and while doing this to be guided by the following words of our popular writer Oskar Luts: "Don't be afraid of life! Don't be afraid of efforts and pain! Don`t be afraid of struggle – while struggling, your strength will be growing. It doesn`t matter if you sometimes fighting your way through life should lose – more important is that you won the battle against yourself. Then, one day, looking back at your active, fulfilled life, you will be aware of having done your utmost. Therefore, over all the hardships and dangers, keep advancing towards human magnitude and height!"

Minister of Education Mailis Rand called on the school-leavers to use in the best way both their heads, hands and hearts. And thus Ivar Veskioja from the Tallinn High School No.32 speaking on behalf of the school-leavers claimed that the future of Estonia was just in the hands and heads of these young, which had set off for school as the last age group before Estonia regained its independence.

The school-leavers will be reminded of the reception by a memorial medal, the President's autograph and a group photograph.
