The National Defence Council discussed the principles of the National Defence19.06.2002
Chaired by the President of the Republic, the National Defence Council assembled today to discuss the report of the President's National Security Counsellor, Major Leo Kunnas, heard on June 3.
The council decided not to alter the priorities of the national defence, and to intensify the efforts both to join NATO and to develop an independent system of national defence.
The National Defence Council also listened to Brigadier General Giuliano Crivelli's lecture on the Swiss system of national defence.
In addition, the item of conferring ranks on high-ranking officers was under discussion.
