President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg hosted a traditional working Wednesday-lunch for Prime Minister Siim Kallas.
The Prime Minister informed the Head of State about his discussions hold with foreign politicians over the last days, first of all, about his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasjanov, on Monday in St. Petersburg. In Siim Kallas' opinion their discussion had been friendly, and promising in terms of future developments in the relationship between the two countries.
At today's meeting, the President and the Prime minister also talked about how to honour the veterans of the War of Independence and their widows. In addition, President Rüütel and Prime Minister Kallas continued their discussion about the candidature for Chief of General Staff. The President gave his consent to appoint to this post Colonel Alar Laneman, proposed by the Commander of the Defence Forces and the Government.
