The President of the Republic met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan

At the meeting, the Head of State expressed his delight that, over many years already, we in Estonia had the chance to enjoy the singular and high-level Japanese theatre, musical culture and ikebana. The President further expressed his satisfaction that the relations between our two countries were not restricted to culture only, but were advancing also in the economic sphere, above all, based on the high technology.

The Japanese Foreign Minister recognized Estonia's achievements in implementing high tech and its resident's strong interest in using the internet. Shigeo Uetake also expressed his respect for our rich history and culture, but equally for Judo – having evolved from the ancient Japanese martial art – being so popular in Estonia. The Deputy Foreign Minister expressed the hope that the Estonian-Japanese relationship progressed continuously.
