The President of the Republic received congratulations10.05.2002
 President Arnold Rüütel today marked his 74th birthday. On this occasion, Chairman of the Riigikogu Toomas Savi and Vice Chairman Tunne Kelam came to congratulate him. Congratulations from the Government of the Republic were delivered by Minister Liina Tõnisson.
The President also was congratulated by Commander of the Defence Forces Vice Admiral Tarmo Kõuts, Legal Chancellor Allar Jõks, and his Deputy Mihkel Oviir. On behalf of the Diplomatic Corps, the Estonian Head of State was congratulated by Swedish Ambassador Elisabeth Borsiin Bonnier and French Ambassador Jean Jacques Subrenat.
Vahur Kraft, the President of the Bank of Estonia, Mart Sõrg, the Chairman of the Bank's Supervisory Board, Jaano Odar, the Cairman of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court, Juhan Parts, the Auditor General, Edgar Savisaar, the Mayor of Tallinn, Members of the President's Academic Council, representatives of the Rural People's Congress and many others came to congratulate the President as well.
In the morning, kindergarten children sang a birth-day song to the President.
 From 12.00 to 16.00, at the Office of the President was opened a congratulations book, wherein everyone desiring it could enter his or her congratulations to the President.
