Mrs Ingrid Rüütel opened the Jäneda Centre of Handicraft
01.05.2002

At noon today, Mrs Ingrid Rüütel participated in the opening of the Jäneda Centre of Handicraft. In her welcoming address Mrs Rüütel said that in today's globalizing and standardizing world one could only welcome attempts to highlight distinctiveness and to make something yourself in counterbalance to the offensive mass production. Mrs Rüütel took part in weaving jointly a rag rug.

The centre of handicraft was founded on the initiative of the Jäneda Mõisa Plc and in collaboration with the Estonian Central Society for the Advancement of Home Industries, as well as with Estonian artists and artisans. The purpose of the centre of handicraft is to preserve the traditions of Estonian national handicraft, to offer a whole variety of quality products of Estonian handicraft and art, and to promote the development of rural regions.
