The President of the Republic met with the Prime Minister03.04.2002
President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg hosted a traditional Wednesday-lunch for Prime Minister Siim Kallas.
The Prime Minister told the Head of State about a national development plan being prepared by the Government, which will constitute the basis for the strategy of the national budget for the years 2003-2006. They both shared the view that the state should pay more attention to science and development activities, and that these shoud be financed accordingly. As assured by the Prime Minister, implementation of Estonian scientific achievements and promotion of technological development belonged to the priorities of the Government.
At the meeting, also Estonia's preparations to join NATO were touched upon, whereby Prime Minister Kallas informed President Rüütel of his forthcoming meetings at the headquarters of NATO next Monday in Brussels.
