Ingrid Rüütel received the Silver Badge of the International Council of Organizations for Folklore Festivals and Folk Art (CIOFF)

Ingrid Rüütel received the Silver Badge of the International Council of Organizations for Folklore Festivals and Folk Art (CIOFF) today.

At the annual meeting of the Estonian National Council of Folklore, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Council, which took place in the Chamber Hall of the Old Town Studio in Tallinn; Kyösti Toivonen, the President of the Northern Europe Sector of the CIOFF, conferred the Silver Badge of the CIOFF, the Sector’s most distinguished award, on Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel. As a national delegate of Estonia, Mrs. Rüütel got the award for her services to the international folklore movement. When conferring the badge, Kyösti Toivonen said that the Estonian section that had acceded to the organisation only ten years ago had within a couple of years become one of the most outstanding in the North Europe Sector due to the harmonious connections between scientific research and well-organised domestic folklore movement of the people.

Also Kari Bergholm, the World President of the International Council of Organizations for Folklore Festivals and Folk Art, as well as the Honorary Member of the Council Sirkka Viittanen, and the members of the national sectors of Finland, Latvia were present at the meeting.
