The President’s Cultural Foundation will issue the Young Artist Prize

Alar Ojalo, Head of the President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation, and the businessman Toomas Luman, signed the agreement to found a Young Artist Prize in Kadriorg today.

The award will be financed by Toomas Luman and issued by the Cultural Foundation. The award will be 40,000 Estonian kroons, and shall be issued once a year. The competition for the first award shall be announced on the first week of April. The award is for young promoters of culture in Estonia, whose accomplishments have been recognised, or whose work and activities have considerably helped to make Estonian culture known in the world.

The President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation has, together with Toomas Luman, twice issued the Young Scientist Award, which has gone to the molecular biologist Priit Kogerman and the pharmacologist Allan Kaasik.

The President of the Republic’s Cultural Foundation is a foundation initiated by the President, which receives donations from private individuals, enterprises, organisations, and unions in order to support activities in the field of culture, education, and science. The activities of the Cultural Foundation are planned and managed by the Board. Indrek Neivelt has been elected the Chairman of the Board, and the members of the Board are Georg Bogatkin, Erki Holmberg, Jaan Kaplinski, Toomas Luman and Peeter Vähi.
