The President of the Republic had a meeting with small-scale entrepreneurs05.03.2002
President Arnold Rüütel received the representatives of the Estonian Association of the Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (EVEA) in Kadriorg today. Jüri Järviste, Marina Kaas, Tiit Raag and Teet Kurss had lunch with the President and discussed the opportunities for developing small enterprises.
The President pointed out that small and medium-sized enterprises have good development prospects in Estonia, as well as a significant role in offering new jobs. Everybody admitted the possibility of closer co-operation between the enterprises, the state institutions and the local governments.
The representatives of the EVEA also expressed their support to the opinions voiced by the President on the subject of power industry in the Riigikogu. They also spoke of their intention to announce the Year of Small Entrepreneurship.
Both the President and the small-scale entrepreneurs expressed their hope that such meetings could be arranged on a regular basis in the future.
