The President of the Republic accepted the credentials of the Ambassadors of Italy and Brazil

The President of the Republic Arnold Rüütel accepted the credentials of Ruggero Vozzi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to the Republic of Estonia, at Kadriorg today.

The President thanked Italy for the support to Estonia's aspirations to accede to the European Union and NATO. He assured that Estonia would continue her efforts to close the accession negotiations with the European Union by the end of this year. The Head of State also expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador’s country for the annual scholarships issued to Estonians.

Ambassador Vozzi expressed his hope that Estonia and Italy would in the future continue their successful co-operation in shaping the future of Europe. He pointed out that during his stay in Estonia, he would like to give considerable attention to the development of economic and cultural relations between the two countries.

The President of the Republic also accepted today the credentials of Luiz Henrique Pereira da Fonseca, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Brazil to the Republic of Estonia.

The Head of State highlighted the excellent relations between the two countries, and extended his recognition also to the Estonian community in Brazil. The President hopes that Estonia's contacts with Brazil will intensify; here, mutual visits of business delegations would be useful. The Ambassador considered this to be a wonderful idea. He thanked the Estonians living in his country for their contribution to the prosperity of Brazil.
