The President of the Republic met the Minister of Defence26.02.2002
President Arnold Rüütel received Minister of Defence Sven Mikser in the Kadriorg Presidential Palace today.
During their meeting, President Rüütel and Defence Minister Mikser discussed issues connected with legislation, emphasizing the need to pass into law also the new peacetime national defence bill before too long.
President Rüütel said that, while preparing for the accession to NATO, efficient co-operation both at domestic and international level was extremely essential. At the meeting also issues linked with mobilization were under discussion.
The President of the Republic noted that, too frequently, we prefer foreign products to the domestic ones, and drew the Defence Minister`s attention to the need to order equipment for the Defence Forces from local manufacturers.
