The President of the Republic met with editors of county newspapers12.02.2002
 President Arnold Rüütel invited journalists from county papers to Kadrorg at noon today, to discuss together the chances of improving quality of life in Estonia.
The Head of State recognized the activities of county papers in better informing people and developing their own regions. At the same time, the President expressed approval of this kind of the press which goes further into the causes and many aspects of problems. President Rüütel advised the journalists, while analysing reforms on both national and county level, to seek answers, in the first place, to one question: is it enriching life of the local people and making it more secure?
Among other things, the journalists were interested in President`s opinions of the reforms of administrative and public health systems, of the future of the European Union, of affecting the Estonian`s birth rate and increasing their satisfaction with the state.
President Rüütel intends to arrange meetings with journalists of both the national and the county papers regularly.
