The membership of the new Government was presented to the President of the Republic25.01.2002
This morning, the candidate for Prime Minister, Siim Kallas, having been authorized by the Riigikogu to form a new government, presented to President Arnold Rüütel the following membership of the Government of the Republic:
Mr Siim Kallas, Prime Minister;
Ms Mailis Rand, Minister of Education;
Mr Märt Rask, Minister of Justice;
Mr Sven Mikser, Minister of Defence;
Mr Heiki Kranich, Minister of the Environment;
Ms Signe Kivi, Minister of Culture;
Ms Liina Tõnisson, Minister of Economic Affairs and Minister of Transport and Communications;
Mr Jaanus Marrandi, Minister of Agriculture;
Mr Harri Õunapuu, Minister of Finance;
Mr Ain Seppik, Minister of Internal Affairs;
Ms Siiri Oviir, Minister of Social Affairs;
Ms Kristiina Ojuland, Minister of Foreign Affairs;
Mr Eldar Efendijev, Minister;
Mr Toivo Asmer, Minister.
Candidate for Prime Minister Kallas announced his intention to make the Government function as one team, and more efficiently than the previous one. President Rüütel expressed his desire to meet all Members of the Cabinet after the Government will have taken office.
The Head of State has got three days to appoint the Government to office.
