The President of the Republic met with the Prime Minister23.01.2002
President Arnold Rüütel met with the outgoing Prime Minister, Mart Laar, at Kadriorg today. During their meeting, the present political situation in Estonia was discussed.
President Rüütel and Prime Minister Laar noted with contentment that a new governement coalition had been formed. They expressed hope that the Cabinet of Ministers could be manned by competent politicians and the term in office of the new government would be successful. In estimation of the President and the outgoing Prime Minister, the success of the governmental activities has become more important, for Estonia has entered a decisive period in view of the accession to both the European Union and NATO.
