The President of the Republic met the Prime Minister02.01.2002
President Arnold Rüütel met today in Kadriorg Prime Minister Mart Laar. During their meeting the President and the Prime Minister discussed the budget for 2002. The President of the Republic was concerned about local governments having turned to him with protests, because the budget for 2002, passed by the Riigikogu, does not provide sufficient funds to fulfil the obligations imposed upon them. The President appealed for resources and possibilities to be found within the scope of the present-year's budget to adjust the level of revenue of all the local governments.
At the meeting the President and the Prime Minister also talked about the problems of energetics.
