The President of the Republic met with the Minister of Finance and the Mayor of Tallinn27.12.2001
President Arnold Rüütel met with the Minister of Finance Mr Siim Kallas at Kadriorg today. During the meeting the President was interested in the decrease in funds to be received by local governments from the state budget in 2002, which has given rise to a wave of protests from local governments.
At the meeting with the Mayor of Tallinn Mr Edgar Savisaar, the President was interested in the adoption of a balanced municipal budget for 2002 and in avoiding a situation where the loan burden of the capital may jeopardize the stable financial and economic policy of the entire state. General political issues were discussed at the meeting as well.
