The President of the Republic was made a farewell call by the Head of the Mission of the OSCE to Estonia

The Head of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Ambassador Doris Hertrampf made today at the Kadriorg Presidential Palace her farewell call on President Arnold Rüütel.

President Rüütel said at the meeting that Estonia had succeeded in solving the problems concerning the national minorities and thanked the Ambassador for her mission performed. According to the President the activities of the Mission had been successful and had contributed to our efforts to join the European Union and NATO. The President expressed his hope that the European Union and NATO could give the people of Estonia confidence in security which is indispensable to us as a nation.

Doris Hertrampf said at the meeting that Estonia could be trusted to fulfil all its international obligations and she expected the Estonian society to be capable of continuing its co-operation for the purpose of integration. Further, the Ambassador expressed her contentment with the work of the Roundtable of National Minorities continuing and spoke out her support to Estonia`s accession to the European Union.
